YOUTH FORUM FOR EDUCATION OF ROMA (YFER)
Youth Forum for Education of Roma (OFER) was established as a non-partisan, non-profit organization in 2002 in Bujanovac. Forum is established by a group of young and enthusiastic people who were dissatisfied with the position of Roma youth and children with the wish to make change working on that field. In order to achieve its goals, YFER stands for: an increase in the educational level of the Roma community through education, awareness raising of Roma, collecting information on violations of human rights especially the rights of national minorities, the protection of human rights acting through institutions, the development of environmental awareness, the development of sport among young and preservation and development of the Roma cultural identity. So far, the YFER conducted a series of projects aimed to improve Roma education, to support the fight against human trafficking, to promote human rights and to improve the health status of the Roma in the municipality of Bujanovac. YFER was actively involved in the project information campaigns for the election of the National Council of the Roma community in Vranje and Bujanovac sponsored by OSI Budapest. He has undertaken a number of projects for young people, such as the project "Leave a mark" financed by the Coordinating Body of the government of the Republic of Serbia for the municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, the project "Through the education of young people to the knowledge of human rights," funded by OSI Budapest, the "Activator - accelerator" supported by the Ministry of Youth and Sport of the Republic of Serbia and organized action Give free books to children from vulnerable and disadvantaged groups. OFER also is a partner to Italian Consortium of Solidarity in the implementation of a program designed to elderly Roma victims of Nazi terror, who in 2008-2009 provided the psycho-social, legal and medical assistance, provided food parcels and hygienic for 280 users in municipality of Bujanovac. The project was implemented by ICS and under the auspices of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and funded by the German Foundation "Remembrance, Responsibility and Future".
